Austria: Good night, freedom of speech!

The Austrian Ministry of Justice (photo: Justice Minister Claudia Bandion-Ortner), under the guise of terrorism prevention, is preparing a legal amendment that will bring the freedom of speech far closer to what it’s like in China. “Whoever publicly … incites … against a (note: long list of specific) group is punishable by up to two years imprisonment.” The same also applies to whoever “seeks make slurs” against such a group. So it stands in the draft of the bill that has already passed all-encompassing expert examination without any great pulic outcry (Art. 1 § 283).

(From Dr. Andreas Unterberger for German PI, Translation: Anders Denken)

One can only say: Good night, freedom of speech, if such a paragraph that any East European Stasi (State Security) and thought police would rubber stamp should become law. With this law, Political Correctness will have a universal weapon in hand and a further triumph that reminds us of the French Revolution when the battle for the acquisition of human rights was increased gradually until it became the hideous Reign of “La Grande Terreur.” A small comfort, though: today, the Republic will be satisfied with two years’ imprisonment.

Just so there’s no misunderstanding: I have absolutely no sympathy for when anyone is hated, or when someone is scorned. But such concepts that can never be defined exactly can be employed by the justice apparatus extensively for a constriction of free speech. These concepts belong in the area of child rearing, religious duty, not in the grasps of a state power that will use brute force if necessary.

The producer of the bulk of this penal code, Peter Pilz, and many associations, whose only (mostly subsidized) mission is the observation of Political Correctness, will now be able to build up their collaborating staff; so many opportunities for “fact sharing with the Office of Public Prosecution” will open up to them.

The publication of some facts is already intended to stir up hostility. But in this law there is no allowance for proof of the truth.

In the future, one will only have to speak or write with a lightly critical undertone that those belonging to nationality X are involved in the Austrian drug trade in significantly high numbers, or that those of nationality Y dominate the business of break-ins, or that a significantly high number of those belonging to sexual orientation Z have a certain transmittable disease. Or someone will tell a stupidly aggressive joke about those affiliated with a certain country.

In the end, any jurist with clever argumentation can make any unwelcome expression of opinion punishable according this law. There are now many weapons in hand for the Public Prosecuting Office, which has become infamous in the past year for its willful ways.

It will also not help the media anymore – which now as always is still asleep – to a flowery saying like the ridiculous “Innocence is presumed.” For example: “This information is not intended to stir up hostility.”

What is especially grotesque, however, is also the lengthy, yet very selective list of protected groups; one can openly stir up hostility very well against the others or make a slur against them. However, protected groups are those that have something to do with race, skin color, speech, religion, world view, nationality, ancestry, national or ethnic origin, sex, handicap, age, or sexual orientation.

Not others. Thus, there is for example, the class struggle along with the derision by businessmen or managers that is entirely possible. Even the moral concepts of a European democratic state are no longer protected.

And all of that dares to appear under the title of “Terrorism Prevention Law.” And a presumably civil-minded Justice Minister dares to submit all of that.

It is completely incomprehensible that, in this country, there is no longer anybody who will stand for the defense of free speech and against this attack on the most important principle of the Enlightenment, namely the freedom of expression. What stands in this law constricts freedom much more than a full-body scanner (instead of a full-body pat down), or the collection of telephone call data (so long as the plan is to reveal only telephone numbers and not the substance of conversations). Both of these points, however, greatly agitate the public. Even though they are a thousand times more intended to combat terrorism than for the massive restriction of free speech.

At least in China, more and more people are standing up against the thought police. Among us, the ruling left wing liberalism will awaken only when it gets noticed that some of its favored stereotypes also get threatened with two years in prison, (expressing) somewhat like “the Church is the greatest criminal organization in the world.”

Commentary by Mag. Christian Zeitz, Committee member of the Vienna Academic Union:

The EU has conducted for some time a systematic disposal of the Christian foundations of our continent. Counted among the comprehensive instruments of cultural transformation they use are: an all encompassing antidiscrimination legislation, the revaluation of constitutional concepts by the European Constitutional Law Agency, as well as – and presently a prevailing topic – the realization of a “hate speech legislation.” With these instruments, every form of valid criticism about Islam and its implementation in Europe, about excessive migration, and about the promotion of customs foreign to our culture upon us will be combatted and ultimately penalized. The Austrian Justice Minister has smuggled in a further dramatic step in this direction with the proposal of a law whose material leaves no guess about support for promoting Islamization trends. Under the title of a terrorism prevention law there is a passage where the “spuring on of violence and hostility,” among other things against religions, is threatened just as much with imprisonment, like the “making of slurs” against religions. The concrete draft of the law literally assumes the basic resolution of the EU Council dated November 11, 2008, in which the highest European levels de facto ask the member states to punish the exercise of free speech in essential areas. It must be pointed out with absolute resolution that concepts such as “hate,” “derision” and “goading” are political battle terms that should have no place in a constitutional system because they are expressions of a presumptuous dictatorship of views. Dr. Andreas Unterberger has earned great merit in that he took on this theme in his blog entry on January 27, 2010, and has presented it in brilliant fashion.

All freedom loving and truth loving forces in Austria and on our continent are being called upon with all legally available means, to put a stop to the way into a system of thought dictatorship and justice of attitude, and fundamentally deny allegiance to the Austrian federal government — in the case that they don’t come to the consideration of this all important question of survival.

Has anyone noticed that current politicians in the West just do any have the intellectual presence of past generations. In the UK, I recall Churchill, Wilson, and Thatcher, to name a few. Now we had Blair, and then Brown, followed by the android Cameron.

In Germany, there was Adenaur, Schmitt, and Kohl – all imposing figures. Now look at the picture of the woman above. She just does not have the presence, or gives any indication of intellect, that a senior politician should have. I realize that looks are not everything, but you have to admit that first impressions do hold some truth.

But I don't understand this very well. Is not calling a whole group of people murderers incitement? Help me here because I know nothing about Austrian law. But it seems to me that when people publically call Jews murderers (aka the "murderous state of Israel"?) is not that incitement? But this is what they do in their mosques all the time?
So is there not a legal problem with mosques? Could not most imams be persecuted by the criminal justice system? Why is not the district attorney in those areas doing anything to bring Imams to justice?

Freedom of expression and many other cultural acquisitions of the West came about via a long process of development, in essentially a Christian environment.

Several things have happened that make such freedoms difficult to maintain.

      1. Christianity, the founding font of all that we are, is now suppressed – thus the roots of Western civilisation have been severed.

      2. The EU is essentially a Left bureaucratic organisation, is Atheist, and will do anything to destroy any body that is likely to be a threat to its suzerainty. They have learnt the lesson of the Vatican and the Warsaw Pact.

      3. Muslims have been deliberately allowed in to dissolve the glue that holds Western society together.

The trouble the political elite have, is how to reconcile freedom of expression that forbids legitimate criticism of Islam, with freedom of religion and what is in the Koran.

This contradictory requirement is what has brought Geert Wilders before the Inquisitor, for all Geert Wilders did was to quote from the Koran. The implication of this trial, is that it is legitimate for Muslims to invoke the Koran to incite Muslims to murder cartoonists and writers, but for a non-Muslim to point this absurdity, is illegal, and to be fined or incarcerated.

This is a situation so absurd, that even Monty Python would consider it bizarre. So what are we to do?

    4. #4 DP111   (18. Feb 2010 13:56)

In a normal society, the one we had not so long ago, based on a common culture and language, one has one’s share of virtues and vices. This is normal, and is true for all societies – you get what you deserve. In a multicultural society though, particularly the one we have, the imported virtues of an imported people, are hardly any, or we have them anyway, but the vices that they bring, are far too many. The more diverse the imported cultural group, the more varied and diverse are the vices. In addition, they are of a sort that our society is unable to comprehend, the ones from Islam being the most retrograde – like polygamy, honour killings, FGM, murder those who criticise Islam, etc.

In effect, in a multicultural society, the host's virtues are diluted or suppressed, while in exchange we have all the diverse vices, and hence the crimes, of diverse imported groups. If we import the entire world, we do not get all the virtues of the rest of the world, but all the vices of the rest of the world. Just looking at present day Britain or any Western country, must make this obvious,

This is one of the reasons that our police and judiciary are unable to cope, as there are no norms that are acceptable or unacceptable. It is the reason why our education system is failing, or has failed. It is leading to a breakdown of society, unable to defend itself at home or abroad, as it has no idea what it is, and what it is supposed to defend. Just as flies wax strong and prosper over a decaying carcass, so it is that "Diversity" managers prosper over a dying multicultural failed nation. Celebration of cultural diversity is thus a celebration of the death of a nation, the equivalent of Turkeys celebrating Christmas.

This Austrian law is a desperate attempt to hold the dam before it bursts. I hope the people of Austria send this law packing, along with the idiots who brought it to light.

If you put a sick body (imigrants) into bed with a healthy person (western culture) the sick body does not become healthy, but the healthy person becomes sick. That is what happens. INSHALLAH!

      The Big Brother of Europe?
France Moves Closer to Unprecedented Internet Regulation

The lower house of the French parliament has approved a draft bill that will allow the state unprecedented control over the Internet. Although the government says it will improve security for ordinary citizens, civil rights activists are warning of a "new level" of censorship and surveillance.

For members of the French administration, it is a law against digital crime. For civil rights activists and politicians from opposition parties, it is a plan for censorship that excites fear and loathing — and even conjures up the specter of Big Brother and the surveillance state.

The new legislation could in the future force Internet service providers (ISPs) to shut off access to criminal sites, should they be officially instructed to do so. According to the draft legislation, the law "makes it the responsibility of each Internet service provider to ensure that users don't have access to unsuitable content."

      http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518…

      ————————————————————–

Yes just like China, the Internet will be censored. The Leftist/socialist political elite have noticed the power of the internet, and will do anything to have it under control. The favourite excuse will be to stop the sexual exploitation of children – now who but a pervert would oppose that.

I suspect that the moves to strangle freedom of expression are coming from the EU. The EU generally likes to move behind the scenes, so that it is not criticised.

Its beginning to look like China.

I believe these laws are actually coming from the EU, which likes to operate from behind the curtain.

    8. #8 Bloody Mary   (19. Feb 2010 08:49)

Of course these laws are instigated by the guys in Bruxelles. Little Austria has nothing to say since 1995, when it joined this club of criminals. The best would be to leave the EU, but it is a Cockaigne for politicians, clever or daft. That is why Austrians have to stay and pay.

The whole Eurozone is now in financial trouble, and the only country that can save the bacon is Germany. But i do not see Germany always paying for the rest. Sooner or later they will say enough, and quit the Eurozone. End of the EU – for without Germany, it is a non-starter.

DP111 Oh how I wish you were right! I am VERY old. There is not much time left for me to enjoy an EU-free life. But I have several grandchildren for whome I hope.

      Bloody Mary

Enjoy life regardless. Have faith that what we do will be have real benefit later.

Let me amplify. Over the centuries, Europeans had implicitly understood the evil of Islam. If the forces of Islam had defeated Charles Martell, or Prince Sobieski, or Prince Eugene, or Jean Christian Valletta, or even Vlad the Impaler, then there would be no Western civilisation. That would mean no scientific, medical and technological revolutions. We would be still living in huts, subject to plague and pestilence. There would be no mod cons. There would be no literature- Shakespeare, Goethe, Dante etc etc, none of it. There would be Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Mozart, for Islam does not like anything that is not already in the Koran. And there would be no art – forget it.

This is what past generations of Europeans instinctively knew. Western civilisation could take off only when the threat of Islamic invasion had been curtailed.

However, Western civilisation has been so robust and powerful, that we have forgotten the threat that Islam poses, and therefore we have allowed millions of Muslims to settle as citizens within Western countries. Islam no longer poses a military threat, but Muslims in the West do pose a demographic threat, because of their very high birth rate. This is a fifth column like no other, for it not 0nly intends top conquer, but to remove every vestige of Western civilisation, if it ever gets the chance to be dominant.

Fortunately we have realised the problem. It is now public, but the MSM, and the EU/Leftist/Liberal elite, do not wish to acknowledge the mistake they have made. So they keep quiet, and hope for the best. This same situation could have happened at some future date, and if 9/11 did not happen for them, then they would have sleepwalked Western civilisation over the cliff.

On a smaller matter, the EU is going to break its own back, as it takes on more and more, but does not have the money to pay for the socialist utopia it wishes. If t thinks that Germany will forever pay for the rest having a good time, while the Germans work -forget it. They may do so for a some while, while they are still under WWII guilt conscience, but it won’t last too much longer. It is not human nature.

Western civilisation could take off only when the threat of Islamic invasion had been curtailed.

      part 2
