Wolfsburg’s alternate goalie André Lenz (photo) was heavily stabbed in front of a disco in the VW city and was injured so badly that he had to have emergency surgery in the middle Saturday night. There is blanket silence among the media about the cultural backgrounds of the perpetrators. However, the evidentiary facts present some interesting things.
The BZ writes:
A ghastly end for the Football League’s season! Goalie André Lenz (36) from VfL Wolfsburg was heavily stabbed Saturday night in front of a disco in the VW city. Lenz was delivered to the Wolfsburg Clinic with serious cuts and stab wounds and was operated on during the night. The goalie still lay Sunday afternoon in the intensive care unit.
Speaker for the police, Sven-Marco Claus, to the BZ: “Yes, that’s right. However, we need to wait for the completion of the witnesses’ statements before we can say anything more accurate about the situation. We are investigating an attempted murder.
How did the knife attack on the goalie (33 football league games) come about?
Early Sunday, shortly before 2 a.m. The Wolfsburg Club “Esplanade” was pretty crowded, 300 guests were partying at the “Michael Ammer Model Evening.” Besides the party king Ammer and Daniel Lopes (Ex-DSDS candidate) almost the whole team of the VfL Wolfsburg was part of the crowd. The players were celebrating their season end party.
The atmosphere was happy and festive. Alcohol flowed freely. The pros poured the drinks in celebration of the 3 to 1 victory over Frankfurt; they were celebrating in a separate VIP section.
What then happened is told by witnesses. The atmosphere was toppled within a precious few minutes!
Several club guests allegedly started to provoke and badger the Vfl stars at 2:07. Harsh words were expressed that the pros apparently wouldn’t let pass. From the group of players, objects allegedly began to fly in the direction of the provokers. A girlfrind of one of the doorkeepers was apparently struck.
All means of security by the security officer had also been burned through. The situation began to escalate; fists and bottles were flying.
“Everything happened so quickly, the situation was totally out of control. All at once glasses and bottles were flying, panic broke out,” one eyewitness reports.
Club owner Jan Schroeder raised heavy accusations against the stars, he says: “I have had enough; I have never experienced such things before. The players were letting fly with cigarettes and ice cubes at the guests.”
A few pros and guests supposedly tried to calm the situation down, at which time the squabblers finally left the club.
However, in the parking area outside the disco things got even worse. Weapons were now employed in the activity. A man apparently rammed a knife several times into Lenz’ back. The goalie bled profusely.
Police and ambulances arrived. Minutes later Lenz was brought by ambulance to the Wolfsburg Clinic. The goalkeeper had already lost a lot of blood; only an emergency surgery would save his life. Claus: “He suffered serious inuries in the upper-body area. His life is no longer in jeopardy. But without the operation, the outcome could have been different.”Meanwhile, the brawl kept on going. Gilberto Fernandes (33), friend and mentor of forward star Grafite (31) was also seriously injured; he suffered a broken nose and cheekbone.
Police speaker Claus: “We were on site within the shortest time with five cruisers so that we could contain all of the participants. However, we haven’t been able confirm the presence of a weapon in the crime yet.
Besides Lenz and the mentor, a 24-year-old and 25-year-old man were also injured. By morning the police had secured the evidence and were also evaluating videotapes as well.
Ex-Herta member Alex Madlung: “I can and will say nothing about the incident.”
SpOn, in the meantime, is trying to play down the incident as “a brawl,” but they themselves had to admit that Lenz was considered to be sober.
Bloody confration in a Wolfsburg disco: VfL pro André Lenz suffers serious cuts and stabbing injuries in the fracas.
(…)
The role of Lenz in the brawl still needs to be clarified. He suffered the injuries “when he apparently tried to intervene and intermediate in a quarrel between other guests,” the VfL communicated. The goalkeeper is known as a sensible and quiet player.
We’re anxious about hearing more details.
