Successful integration! Muslims have now arrived at the top in Germany. On Germany’s highest peak, the Zugspitze, the needs of Muslim visitors have been addressed, and a special toilet has been installed for the Devout.

Some tips sniffed out in Germany are difficult for even hardshell PI authors to believe. When a reader reported to us about a toilet only for Muslims on the Zugspitze, we thought it was a joke at first. The following excerpt from the BILD am SONNTAG newspaper from August 22, 2010 still couldn’t convince us completely:

A personal call at the Marketing Division of the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG (Bavarian Zugspitz Rail and Cable Car) created certainty: The reality has overtaken any possible satirical fantasy in Germany. Germany’s highest lying restaurant possesses a special toilet for the Devout. Their needs can be learned about on Pflege-Wiki:

After using the toilette, a Muslim often doesn’t use toilet paper, but rather cleans his private area with running water and the left hand. The left hand is considered unclean and is therefore not used for eating or greeting.

At the Zugspitze, it is hoped with the little holy place having Arab placards and a Muslim prayer room constructed directly next to it that rich Arabs will be drawn in. For what’s the oh so nice saying? “Money doesn’t stink.”
