Gates of Vienna”, one of the most important blogs on the international scene critical of Islam has been shut down for “violation of terms.” The blogsite was hosted on the “Blogger” platform that belongs to the Google concern. Those trying to call up the blog get an error message from Blogger: “This blog is in violation of Blogger’s Terms of Service and is open to authors only.”

A few days ago, Gates of Vienna was unreachable; but since other blogs also were affected by the outage, it appeared simply to be a technical problem, as follows from this article in 1389 Blog. After Gates of Vienna had not been in the Internet the past two days, it appeared that Blogger decided for the final shutdown yesterday.

Since Blogger at this point has presented no foundation for its action other than the overall and thus unprovable claim of its violation against the terms of use, then it is to be assumed that it is nothing more than a politically motivated attempt at censorship.

The good news is that security copies are available. Owner “Baron Bodissey” announced that Gates of Vienna, with all of its present content, can be opened if necessary under another domain name and on another platform.
